Max is a partner in Berry & Co's Queenstown office.
He specialises in business and company law, commercial property, tourism and joint venture developments, environmental law and all aspects of dispute resolution.
Max's expertise includes;
• Corporate joint venture and business structures, particularly in the tourism and viticulture sectors
• Applications and advice on Overseas Investments Office issues
• Securities Act issues and advice
• Corporate governance
• Liquor licensing
• Employment related issues including employment contracts, personal grievance issues, restructuring and redundancy advice
• Appearances before local authorities
• Dispute resolution including negotiation, mediation and appearances in the District Court and High Court, and
• Trust structures and succession planning |
Max was a member of the Queenstown Lakes District Council 2020 planning committee and of the Queenstown/Wakatipu Community Centre (Cultural & Arts Centre) working party. He is a director of Lakes Environmental Limited and is a former president of the Queenstown Lakes District Council Chamber of Commerce.
Max's early childhood was spent on the West Coast and later in Southland. Before studying law he spent 10 years working with the New Zealand Fire Service. A keen rower, Max is currently secretary of the Wakatipu Rowing Club. He also enjoys skiing, and highly recommends living in Central Otago. |
